Giggle & Grind is the result of a dream that’s been years in the making.

Karen and her son Thorvin have spent years working alongside each other in the kitchen, sharing a love of great food, hard work and plenty of shenanigans along the way. Karen brings a huge amount of experience to Giggle & Grind, having spent years running café kitchens and catering everything from everyday gatherings to large scale events.

Owning her own café has always been the dream, she just needed to find the right one. And where better than Halswell?

Karen has called Halswell home for decades. It’s where Thorvin was born and raised, and it’s a community they’re damn proud to be part of. So when the opportunity came along to create something of their own right here, they could hardly pass it up.

For Karen, Giggle & Grind is about way more than good coffee and great food. It’s about people. She’s passionate about supporting local suppliers, creating a place where everyone feels welcome, and giving something back to the fabulous community that has been home for many years.

She works hard, plays hard, is always up for a bit of fun and never too far away from a bloody good laugh, which is exactly how Giggle & Grind came to be Giggle & Grind.

We hope Halswell (and Christchurch) loves this little café as much as we do. We can’t wait to welcome you in!
